La Rosa Negra

Dinner with the girls.

La Rosa Negra is the first restaurant I ever ate at in Barcelona. There are two locations in the city, one on Via Laietana and the other on Calle dels Àngels. The closest metro stops are Urquinaona on the yellow line (Via Laietana) and Liceu or Catalunya on the green line (Calle dels Àngels).

La Rosa Negra is known for their authentic Mexican cuisine. The homemade guacamole, nachos, salsa, quesadillas, tacos and burritos are their specialties. Although I greatly enjoy the nachos, I do not find the rest of the food that tasty. The burritos and soft tacos are nothing to talk about. The shrimp salad has little flavor and served at room temperature. Despite the cuisine, the drinks are pretty savory. The raspberry mojito is my favorite! The restaurant's atmosphere is bright and cheery. The walls are painted hot pink and vibrant turquoise and decorated with flirty light fixtures and funky art decor.

There is always a wait for a table at La Rosa Negra. The entire restaurant is packed with people eating, drinking, conversing, and laughing. Once you are seated, the service is actually decent. There is not a ridiculously long wait for the food or check. I believe this is due to the fact that there is always a line at the door. The waiters want you to eat and get out, especially during prime hours. Despite the wait, this is a great place to meet friends for a drink after class or before a night on the town!
